The rear window louvers that were original equipment on some 60s and 70s muscle cars were first and foremost, styling statements. They were part of an appearance package that was created to set these cars apart from lower performance plain Jane versions and were usually combined with features like stripes and spoilers. However, louvers also had practical value since they protected and concealed the vehicle interior. But window louvers aren't just historical artifacts from automotive history. Now you can have the styling upgrade and protection benefits of louvers for your modern car, truck, or van.

Some early muscle cars had fastback rooflines with large rear windows so severely angled they were nearly horizontal. Although they were primarily styling features, nevertheless rear window louvers had to be engineered to allow unobstructed rearward visibility while completely covering the window. Because that great expanse of glass was covered by the louvers, the interior was not exposed, thus preventing the sun from raising the cabin temperature and fading and drying out upholstery and carpeting, and personal possessions and cargo were not revealed to prying eyes and potential thieves.

Although we offer louvers for many classic cars as well as modern performance coupes and sedans, you don't have to drive a car to enjoy the style and protection of window louvers. We also have louvers for most popular medium and full-size pickups and vans. While some of our rear window louvers are constructed from lightweight aluminum, most are made from durable ABS plastic. Our louvers install easily with stainless steel hardware or 3M adhesive, and modifications to your vehicle are usually not required. These great looking louvers come in black with smooth or textured finish, but most can be painted, and you can even order them painted to match your vehicle's finish and delivered to your door ready to install.

Just like the original versions, our window louvers will deliver sleek styling, clear rearward visibility, and the protection you want. The damaging rays of the sun can create a greenhouse effect in a closed vehicle, raising the interior temperature to over 120°F. This can cause vinyl and leather dash, door panel and seating surfaces to dry out and crack, creating unsightly damage. The heat can also cause chemicals to outgas from the material, which forms a haze on your windows that can reduce visibility. UV rays can color fade upholstery and carpeting, which can be expensive to replace. And a large rear window can allow valuables to be on unwanted display. Rear window louvers will shield your interior, keeping it cooler and more secure.

In addition to louvers for rear windows, we also offer louvers and covers for side windows and quarter windows. These accessories provide unique style and similar protection benefits, and while they look great on their own, they can also be the perfect accompaniment to rear window louvers. Side window and quarter window louvers and covers come in ABS plastic, fiberglass, urethane, acrylic, and for select applications, you can even adorn your rie with exotic carbon fiber. Like our rear window louvers, most side and quarter window louvers and covers install simply with 3M adhesive, and some can be ordered pre-painted to match the color of your car, so you can install and enjoy them right out of the box.
