Improving airflow in and out of your engine is a proven way to boost power. Factory air intake systems restrict flow, so we recommend starting with a performance air intake system. This will increase airflow from the air filter up to the throttle body, which is the next restriction in line. Replacing the OE throttle body with one of our performance units will not only further enhance airflow for a gain in horsepower, but you'll also get better throttle response as well.

The throttle body houses one or two plates that open to allow airflow into your engine when you step on the accelerator. Airflow through the factory throttle body is OK when the engine is unmodified and in its original state of tune. But when you're upgrading airflow for performance, it can be the bottleneck that's keeping your engine from making all the power it's capable of. Installing a throttle body with a larger bore will let your engine breathe so it's more powerful, efficient, and responsive.

We offer throttle bodies for most popular vehicle applications and engines in a range of sizes, so you can increase airflow according to your engine's state of tune. Mildly modified engines will definitely benefit from an upgrade in throttle body size, but one that is too big can negatively affect throttle response. Go for the largest size throttle body only if your engine is highly modified, such as with a forced induction system. Our selection includes throttle bodies for newer vehicles with Electronic Throttle Control (ETC), also known as “drive-by-wire”, as well as traditional cable operated systems.

Installing a larger bore performance throttle body is an easy way to gain 10-15 horsepower. Most performance throttle bodies are direct fit, bolt-on replacements for the OE unit, and in some cases take even less time to install than a performance air intake system. While specifics vary according to application, most throttle bodies will accept your factory Idle Air Control (IA) assembly and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), and they're designed to allow proper idle speed and TPS adjustment. Installing a forced induction system often requires blocking off the PCV valve. We offer throttle bodies where the PCV valve passage closes to accommodate turbochargers and superchargers.

An unfortunate byproduct of ETC is poor throttle response and throttle lag compared to traditional cable operated setups. Luckily, this is just a matter of altering the voltage signal to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and changing the gradual throttle opening that is geared toward economy to one that is more instantaneous. We offer electronic throttle controllers that connect between the accelerator pedal position sensor and the vehicle wiring harness. These controllers eliminate poor response and lag, with some providing a selection of throttle response speeds from maximum economy to maximum performance. We also offer several types of throttle stops for consistent launches and ETC at the drag strip.

But if you're on a budget you can still improve your engine's efficiency with an affordable throttle body spacer. These economical, easy to install spacers are machined from lightweight, durable, high-grade aluminum alloy, and positioned between the throttle body and intake manifold. The additional space improves volumetric efficiency, and the serrated design of the bore forces the airflow to swirl as it passes into the intake manifold, creating turbulence that more thoroughly mixes the air/fuel mixture. This improves combustion, and increases horsepower and torque. Plus you'll experience gains in fuel economy and crisper throttle response. Our throttle body spacers are computer designed and dyno proven.
