An oil catch tank is a “can” or container installed right after your PCV/CCV system and before the intercooler. This setup can significantly benefit direct injection engines. It will lower the number of blow-by contaminants reentered to the vehicle’s heart. Fitted into the PCV/CCV system, an oil catch can trap potentially damaging particles including moisture, oil and other particles that can decrease engine operation and rob HP instead of letting them return into the combustion chamber to be burned for emissions purposes. This means cleaner air will make its way through the intercooler and valves, so no zoot, oil, and moisture will cause carbon formation in the intake. The used oil will be safely stored at the bottom of the separator until you can safely dispose of it when doing your next routine oil change.
