Air Filters
Replacing the original equipment air filter is one of the easiest and least expensive things you can do to get more performance and economy from your car or truck. No matter what you drive, we have direct fit performance air filters that will install right in your vehicle's factory air box. Our filters increase air flow, enabling your engine to make more power and get better fuel economy, and provide the critical filtration needed for engine protection.
Most OE filters are made of paper, more precisely wood pulp that is bonded together and formed into pleats. The passages through the typical paper air filter are very small in order to filter and trap dirt, but these small orifices also restrict air flow. And as these passages become clogged with dirt, air flow is further restricted. With a paper air filter, your engine is slowly strangled, with a concurrent reduction in performance and fuel economy.
In contrast, the filtering element in a performance air filter is constructed from cotton gauze, and/or a combination of proprietary synthetic materials, which allow much better air flow. And unlike the paper filter that collects dirt at the surface, performance filters trap dirt throughout the depth of the filtering element. As a result, you get consistently better air flow during the filter's entire service interval, without any sacrifice in filtration ability. The service interval for a performance air filter is also far longer than a typical OE filter, as much as 50,000 miles.
When service time rolls around, the only thing you need to do is clean your performance air filter, re-oil it if required, and put it back into service. That's right, no trip to the dealer or parts store to purchase yet another inferior paper air filter. All of our performance air filters are washable and reusable, so the day you buy one is the last day you'll ever have to buy a new air filter for your vehicle. A performance air filter may cost more initially but it will more than pay for itself over the long haul with the elimination of replacement costs. Plus there will be fewer used paper air filters in the landfill.
Regardless of the shape or size, we have a performance air filter for your vehicle, but if you want more performance, consider removing your factory air box in favor of a conical performance filter. While a direct fit performance air filter will improve air flow for increased power and economy, air flow will still be limited by the physical dimensions of the air box. In addition to the air flow benefits from superior materials, a large conical filter has much greater surface area, for an even better increase in air flow to your engine.
