Spoilers, air dams, and side skirts are great, and can even make your ride more aerodynamic, but nothing makes a high-performance statement like a custom hood. Your hood is perched front and center on your machine, so any change you make to this panel can't be ignored. Our extensive selection includes premium hoods available in various styles and materials including steel, fiberglass, and carbon fiber. While steel is a good choice for some applications, if you want to save considerable weight go for a fiberglass, carbon fiber or composite hood. Along with great head-turning looks, the reduced mass will mean your engine has less of a burden, so your hauler will not only look faster, it will actually be faster too.


Along with power bulges that advertise all the ponies underneath, another common feature on custom hoods are scoops that can help create more horsepower. Channeling cold air to your engine's intake tract is a proven way to make more power and hood scoops provide the entry way. Colder air is denser and contains more oxygen for better combustion, which results in increased horsepower. Some scoops are positioned so they can increase the speed of the air entering the engine, for a “ram air” effect, but such benefits are only attainable at high vehicle speeds.


Another way to look cool as well as make your car run cooler is a custom hood equipped with vents or louvers. Excessive heat not only reduces performance, it can also considerably shorten the lifespan of your engine and other underhood components. Vents and louvers allow this damaging heat to escape. The continuous flow of cool air drawn in by the cooling fan and out through the vents or louvers reduces underhood temperatures. For years, vents have been a feature on many high-performance and racing cars, and louvers have long been essential on hot rods. Now you can get their cooling benefits for your vehicle.


If you don't want to replace your entire hood, but still crave cold air and less heat, browse our large assortment of individual scoops, vents, and louvers. Most are available in the same high-tech materials as our hoods, like carbon fiber, and many are molded in the classic styles popularized by muscle cars and sports cars. Scoops, vents and louvers are proven methods to increase performance, but even if you never cut a hole in your hood and just want the awesome looks, our scoops, vents and louvers will make your ride a hit on cruise nights.

Although some custom hoods come configured to mount to factory hood hinges and use the OE hood latch, for many hoods the manufacturer specifies that hood pins be used for safety. No matter whether you're cruising down the highway or barreling down the front straight, nothing will ruin your day, and your hood, like having it come loose and blow back against the windshield.
