Just as the organs in your body need blood to function properly, your vehicle's systems require the proper fluids and lubricants. Motor oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze, and brake fluid are familiar to most vehicle owners, but there are also many specialized fluids and lubricants for bearings, differentials, disc brake calipers, ball joints and more. Whatever your lubrication needs, we have the premium quality products to keep your vehicle healthy.
Changing your oil on a regular basis and using a premium synthetic motor oil is the best way to ensure optimal engine performance and durability. Synthetic oil flows better when cold for optimal start-up protection, and also performs better at high temperatures. It resists breakdown for longer engine protection, allowing extended change intervals, and reduces internal engine friction so you get better fuel mileage and increased engine output.
Transmission fluid may be the most multi-purpose fluid in your vehicle because it provides the hydraulic pressure needed for transmission operation and also lubricates and cools the unit. Hydraulic pressure developed by the transmission pump activates bands and clutches to control planetary gears and shift the transmission. An oil cooler that is either separate or part of the radiator is used to transfer heat from the transmission fluid. Transmission fluid should be changed at the intervals recommended by the vehicle manufacturer, more often if the vehicle is used for towing or driven in stop-and-go traffic.
Antifreeze is mixed with water to form the coolant that circulates throughout the cooling system. Water transfers heat better than coolant, but its freezing point is too high for winter use, and boiling point too low for efficient engine operation. Plus it would promote rust and corrosion in the cooling system. Antifreeze is about 90% ethylene glycol, and a 50/50 mixture of glycol and water provides freezing protection down to -34°F (-36.7°C) and boiling protection up to 265°F (129°C). The remaining percentage of antifreeze is made up of additives that prevent corrosion and lubricate pump seals.
We carry numerous specialty lubricants that will help you get superior results from repair jobs. Brake caliper lube will keep calipers from sticking and help prevent brake noise. Anti-seize compound keeps fasteners from sticking together so the job goes easier the next time around. Premium synthetic grease will allow bearings to last longer and run cooler and quieter. Multi-purpose penetrating lubricant is ideal for loosening stuck bolts, nuts, locks, and hinges and also provides the lubrication that will keep parts from sticking as well as provide protection against rust and corrosion.
