There are several ways to lift a truck and lift kits come in sizes indicating how much the truck will be raised. In general, the higher you want to go, the more elaborate the lift kit will be. As the name indicates, a body lift kit raises the body on the frame. Basically, lifting blocks are placed between the body mount bushings and the body, but of course the actual procedure is much more involved: new brackets are installed to raise the bumpers, components like the steering shaft are extended, and various other components like wiring harnesses must be repositioned or extended. Body lift kits usually only raise the vehicle 2-3\"\", but they're perfect for someone that just wants the look of a lifted truck or wants to fit larger tires. In addition to springs and shocks kits can include components like control arms\/links, steering knuckles, spindles, crossmembers, radius arms and track bar, drop brackets, drop pitman arm, longer brake lines, etc. The most complete lift kits are more expensive but usually include everything needed. Less comprehensive kits are more affordable, but you will most likely have to source some components separately.
